It was great to spend another day networking, while learning about how to work communications, fundraising, and campaigning. I am definately ready to lead a more involved political life.

Women’s political leadership is the key to improving the quaility of life for the families in our community, the citizen’s of our state, patriots of our great country, and members of the globe. It is the best answer to our collective problems and the only solution we have yet to try. With women’s voice at the political table, we will bring a new, fresh, and unique prespective that includes everyone from every community. Remember – politics is just a family, muliplied by every other family in the world. We must bring women’s political leadership to light in order to save ourselves and our future. So go run, my sisters. Go vote. And above all else – go lead. The world needs you.

Despite an unfortunate interruption of my sleep last night, I found the day’s workshops and intermittent conversations to be invigorating, thought-provoking and, at times, a bit challenging.
My intention to run for elected office at some point in the next few years is seeming more reasonable as I build my campaign toolkit. There are however, significant issues I need to consider and reconsider as I make my plans. Most pressing, to me, is the question of integrity. I have such strong positions and sincerely value my current role(s) of mother, mentor, advocate and activist! It appears, though, that the logical next step may be policy maker. Or policy advisor. Or lobbyist. In any event, the knowledge and skills I’ve gained this weekend will be invaluable. The most interesting thing I’ve learned today is that there are fantastic women from all over the world who share my passion for people and politics.
I am ready to lead a political life- in fact, I do lead a political life everyday by taking my responsibility as a citizen seriously. It is heartening to meet and talk with so many women who are informed, engaged, and aware of their individual and collective power. This is the revelation that gives me hope! No matter what, I am sincerely grateful for the opportunity I’ve been given by The White House Project to make these crucial connections.
Thank You!

I’m still not sure if I want to run for any kind of public office, although The Whitehouse Project has made the idea much more feasible than it seemed two days ago. I’m looking forward to keeping in contact with the other participants and getting lots of fundraising calls from their respective staffs. LOL. This with Peggy, I learned that the reason things are the way they are in my community (and in EVERY community) is because SOMEONE benefits from things being that way. I never thougth about it that way. Eeeeeenteresting.
